Stamped Ring Tutorial
Hello and welcome back! In this week's article I explain step by step how I make my stamped rings! If you have any questions feel free to contact me through my Instagram @mandys.mystical.market
Let’s get into it!
First, let's go over the supplies you will need. You will need a hammer, ring mandrel, ink pen to stain the metal, metal strip for the ring, stamping plate, metal stamps, metal cutters, and pliers.
You will begin by measuring and cutting your metal ring strip to your desired size, but don’t shape the ring quite yet because it still needs to be stamped!
Next you will gather the stamps you would like to use for your ring and place the metal strip on the stamping plate. Then you will align the stamps on top of the metal and tap it into the metal with your hammer. This takes practice to accurately get a clean, even stamp!
Once you have stamped the metal, you can begin the staining process. Ink over your stamped metal and let sit for a few seconds. Then, before it completely dries, wipe off any excess ink to reveal only your stamped portion in ink.
Next you will begin to shape the ring! This can be a long process to get perfect. I begin by bending the ring into a circular shape with my pliers. Then I place the ring onto my ring mandrel and begin hammering the ring into a more precise shape. I usually like to hammer the ring a size smaller at first to really get the shape down. Then I adjust it to the desired size.
After stamping, staining, and sizing your ring, you’re all done! You can enjoy your new handmade, custom, stamped ring.
This ring is available on my Etsy under “custom stamped ring!” You can choose any letters or numbers to be stamped onto a ring!
