What I've Learned from Running a Business
Hello and welcome back! This week I will go over what I’ve learned from running my business! If you have any questions feel free to contact me through my Instagram @mandys.mystical.market
Since starting my business in November 2020, I’ve learned quite a bit. I’ve learned how to market my business, how to communicate with customers, how to budget my spendings, and how to create different products.
When I first started my business, I would only post or advertise through Instagram. That was only successful for a little while, until I hit a plateau with my customer base. I then learned to expand to other apps and social media such as TikTok, Pinterest, and Facebook to reach different audiences.
On the topic of marketing, I’ve learned what strategies work and don’t work. For instance, taking good photos really helps to sell your product. Here is a comparison of the first product photos I took compared to recent product photos.

I've also learned what options work the best or what options do not work at all for customers when making purchases. At first I would sell through Instagram direct messages and have customers Venmo me and send me their address so that I could manually enter in their shipping label. This didn’t work out for me too well because there are a lot of places to go wrong within messaging. Now I only sell through my Etsy shop. Etsy makes the selling process very easy.
Lastly, I’ve learned how to widen my selection of items I offer! I used to only sell wire jewelry but now I’ve expanded to stamped jewelry as well as crochet items. Having a wide selection of items to buy has helped me make more sales.
Thanks for listening to what I’ve learned about running my own business! If you have any questions feel free to contact me through Instagram and checkout my Etsy! Thank you for reading this week’s article, stay tuned for next week! (331 words)
